1. Setting the email name and subject line
When you first create an email, you will be brought to the Email Editor page and you will need to set the email name and subject line.
- Under the Message name, you can title the email - recipients of your email will not see this, it is solely for your reference.
- Next, you should select Convert HTML to plain text to edit and enter the subject line under the Subject lines header. Recipients of your email will see this when the email lands in their inbox.
2. Editing the email content
The next step is to start editing the email content, while still in the Email Editor section, select Message content.
If your email has been set up from scratch, you will be given the option of selecting either the HTML Editor or the Drag & Drop Editor. Select HTML Editor. When copying an existing template, you will be taken directly into the HTML Editor/view - which is where you should edit the email.
The following image indicates that the HTML view is open -:
When in HTML view, you can toggle between viewing the HTML code and the Visual Editor by clicking the toggle visual editor button.
Start editing in the HTML view
- You should be in the Visual Editor, which is easily identified as the view will show the visuals of the email rather than code.
- Content can be edited by typing directly into the builder, however we advise against copy and pasting into the email.
- Rows -: Emails are built as a table, in a series of rows and columns.
- Rows can be deleted by right clicking on the relevant row (or highlighted rows, if looking to remove more than one row).
- Select Row.
- Select Delete Row.
- Similarly, rows can be inserted by placing the cursor in the relevant row
- Right clicking, selecting Row and clicking either Insert Row Before or Insert Row After.
3. Editing the email content
We recommend beginning your message with a personalised greeting, including the recipient’s first name. This can be done by using typing for example:
- Hi {~firstName~}
- Dear {~firstName~}
You must type the exact format you see above in order for the first names to pull through. If you need any clarification on this, or any other elements of personalisation, please get in touch with your Account Manager.
